Passionate Housewives Desperate For God Seminar
with co-author Stacy McDonald and Marilyn Moll, moderator
Thursday, November 15, 2007
I was challenged and blessed by Stacy and co-author's Jennie Chancey's book. During our discussison, Stacy described:
1. Why she wrote the book.
2. The vision of what a Keeper at Home is from a biblical viewpoint.
3. How a busy homemaker with many young children can avoid weariness.
We wrapped up the discussion by thanking Stacy for writing this book by reading an email that was sent to me that I felt, articulately summarized how many Christian woman feel. Here is that email excerpt from Marcia Hansen, reprinted by permission.
Dear Marilyn,
Please convey my thanks to Stacy for her book with Jennie. When my book arrived, I started to leaf through it. I began to read and could not put it down. I read late into the night and left only 20 pages to finish in the morning. Immediately upon waking, I finished the book. I was astounded as to what I had taken hold of and how subtle the message is creeping into the church. I really felt I had none of any of what she described in my body!!
I was sure I was not a feminist in the tiniest bit. She humbled me and I am so grateful. I am 54 and grew up and married when feminism was really taking hold. But I was old fashioned and wanted a 50's type marriage. So reading this has really opened my eyes to the fact that I am more of a feminist than I thought possible...I think in thought way more than in deed. And I never realized it.
I have given the book to my daughters and daughter-in-law and said "READ"!!! I asked one of my daughters about it today and she said she had to put it down, it was so convicting. I hope I can redeem all I have lost and I am so grateful and thankful for the many hours and sacrifices you and Jennie made to make this book possible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart." by Marcia Hansen
The balance of the discussion focused on an area most Christian woman struggle with, Perfectionism. The chapter on Perfectionism in the book is about my most favorite chapter and well worth the price of the book. Perfectionism is all about playing make believe and wearing a mask. Jenny calls it Grown Up Dress Up.
Here is a quote that may help some of us deal with perfectionism, or that need to constantly be comparing ourselves with others that God calls sin:
"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove...but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child"
We closed with the verse from 2 Corinthians 10:12,17 that hits that comparison tendency head on."When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves they are not wise. Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord."
I really hope you will listen to this seminar and share the recording with your friends. You will be blessed.

A Food Foundation for Healthy Families
Continuing Education for Moms
October 25, 2007
Jen Allbritton, CN Guest and Marilyn Moll, moderator
Jen Allbritton and I talked about why a traditional nutrient dense diet to lay the
foundation for avoiding degenerative diseases. We will save the "how's" for another time.
You may listen to the recorded seminar if you CLICK HERE. Recipes follow.
Traditional diets include:
Nutrient-rich proteins from meats and organ meats from pastured animals
Raw dairy products from pastured animals.
Eggs from pastured hens
Traditional fats – butter, olive oil, lard, coconut oil
Chemical-free produce – fruits, vegetables and grains
Properly prepared grains, legumes, nuts and seeds
Bone broths
Lacto-fermented condiments and beverages
We also talked about the importance of supplementing a diet with Cod Liver Oil and the X - factor found in Butter for the high Vitamin A and D content. Bone broths were compared to taking Calcium/magnesium supplements. Clever ways to get chicken liver (very high in Vitamins A and D) into meals was also discussed and recipes follow.
Audience questions included what would be the most important change you could make on a very tight budget, ways to use kefir, the benefits of "germinating" (rather than soaking or sprouting) grains, legumes, and nuts, and much more.

You may purchase the classic work by Weston A Price called Nutrition and Physical Degeneration with FREE shipping through November 4, 2007. The information in this book is well researched and documented with pictures that show how in just one generation a more “civilized” diet contributed to narrow jaws with crowded teeth, cavities, and narrow foreheads. Disease set in at early ages, and mental dysfunction was common.
I found this information compelling and very motivating to keep on keeping on with a more nutrient dense traditional diet.
The following Information is a hand out prepared by Jen that includes a summary of our discussion as well as easy and practical recipes to get started with.
The Food Foundation for the Family
By Jen Allbritton

Who was Weston A. Price?
In the 1930’s a doctor by the name of Weston A. Price traveled the world to study the effects of the “modern” diet on dental health. He found many more benefits to traditional diets other than healthy teeth. The differences between people who had eaten their ancestral diet from birth and people who had feasted on sugar, white flour products, and soft drinks were mind-boggling. The traditional wholesome diet produced wide faces with jaws wide enough to accommodate all the teeth with proper spacing, few or no cavities, and wide heads to house their brains. They had happy demeanors and vibrant health. The more “civilized” diet contributed to narrow jaws with crowded teeth, cavities, and narrow foreheads. Disease set in at early ages, and mental dysfunction was common. He wrote his research findings in Nutrition and Physical Degeneration.
People consuming their traditional diets do not fear cholesterol, healthfully raised meat products, or saturated fat. These are needed for proper body function and growth. In fact, traditional diets contain much higher amounts of healthy fats, particularly for children, than current government recommendations.
Practical Direction for Today
Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon
Sally Fallon is the author of Nourishing Traditions: The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition and the Diet Dictocrats. This well-researched, thought-provoking guide to traditional foods contains a startling message: Animal fats and cholesterol are not villains but vital factors in the diet, necessary for normal growth, proper function of the brain and nervous system, protection from disease and optimum energy levels.
BREAKFAST PORRIDGE
1 cup oats, rolled or cracked
1 cup warm filtered water plus 2 tablespoons whey, yoghurt, kefir or buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup filtered water
1 tablespoon flax seeds (optional)
For highest benefits and best assimilation, porridge should be soaked overnight or even longer. Once soaked, oatmeal cooks up in less than 5 minutes—truly a fast food. (Note: Those with severe milk allergies can use lemon juice or vinegar in place of whey, yoghurt, kefir or buttermilk.) Mix oats with warm water mixture, cover and leave in a warm place for at least 7 hours and as long as 24 hours. Bring an additional 1 cup of water to a boil with sea salt. Add soaked oats, reduce heat, cover and simmer several minutes. Meanwhile, grind optional flax seeds in a mini grinder. Remove from heat, stir in optional flax seeds and let stand for a few minutes. Serve with plenty of butter or cream and a natural sweetener like Rapadura, date sugar, maple syrup, maple sugar or raw honey. You may also wish to add apricot butter, chopped crispy nuts or dried sweetened coconut meat.
CRISPY ALMONDS
4 cups almonds, preferably skinless
1 tablespoon sea salt
filtered water
Skinless almonds will still sprout, indicating that the process of removing their skins has not destroyed the enzymes. (The skins are probably removed by a machine process.) Skinless almonds are easier to digest and more satisfactory in many recipes. However, you may also use almonds with the skins on. Mix almonds with salt and filtered water and leave in a warm place for at least 7 hours or overnight. Drain in a colander. Spread on a stainless steel baking pan and place in a warm oven (no more than 150 degrees) for 12 to 24 hours, stirring occasionally, until completely dry and crisp. Store in an airtight container.
You may purchase the classic work by Weston A Price called Nutrition and Physical Degeneration with FREE shipping through November 4, 2007.
EASY BARBECUED BEEF
3 pounds boneless grass-fed chuck roast
1 1/2 cups ketchup and/or tomato paste
2 Tbsp Dijon-style mustard
1/4 cup Rapadura (evaporate cane juice sugar) or date sugar (or mixture)
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp garlic powder
Place chuck roast in your crock-pot. Combine remaining ingredients in mixing bowl. Pour barbecue sauce mixture over chuck roast. Cover and cook on Low 8 to 10 hours or 4 to 5 hours on HIGH. Remove chuck roast from crock-pot and shred meat with forks. Place shredded meat back in crock-pot. Stir meat to evenly coat with sauce. Spoon meat onto sandwich buns and top with additional barbecue sauce if desired. Serves 12.
EGG SCRAMBLE SURPRISE
7 pastured eggs, beaten
2 Tbsp organic butter
½ to 1 chicken liver, chopped fine
½ to 1 zucchini, chopped into small chucks
½ onion, diced
Salt to taste
Chives, chopped (optional)
Sauté the onion in the butter for a few minutes, then add the zucchini and liver. When the liver is done (pink in color), pour in the eggs. After a few minutes, add the chives. Salt and pepper to taste. Could add hot sauce, salsa, cheese or whatever.

Attitudes
with Lorrie Flem, guest, and Marilyn Moll, moderator
October 18, 2007
The following transcript is a summary of my discussion with Lorrie Flem on Attitudes.
You may listen to the recording of the this Continuing Education Seminar for Moms by CLICKING HERE.
Lorrie said that training the attitudes of our children is a vital part of teaching/training our children in obedience. She pointed out that blaming bad circumstances for a poor attitude is a reflection of our heart and really a sin. Our attitudes should remain even regardless of circumstances.
That means we have to make a conscious choice on what kind of attitude we will have, a decision that, “This is the day the Lord has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it.” An act of the will or choice is how we reflect joy and hold negative emotions in check.
So why does it matter what type of attitude I reflect? Our attitudes spread through the house like unseen germs and are VERY contagious. Our children will quickly reflect our attitudes.
Think about the story of David, Nabel, and his wife Abigail from 1 Samuel 25. In the worst of circumstances, when Abigail’s husband displayed foolish, evil churlish, oppressive behavior, his bad attitude started to infect David’s entire group of soldiers. Abigail was able to rescu the bad situration with charming speech, through submission and a humble attitude. Hence we want to speak only compliments to our husband! Our attitude has great power over others.
Lorrie pointed out that we can’t really begin to work on the attitudes of our children until we have achieved a degree of obedience. At Lorrie’s website, www.teachmagazine.com, you can find a small paper called: 7 Steps to Obedience. There is not peace in the household until obedience is addressed.
When we are committed to obedience in our children we will communicate that commitment to the children by talking to them about how and why you are enforcing obedience nad the consequences if you don’t obey. Never, of course, with anger. Spanking is appropriate for defiant behavior not childish disobedience. Forgetting is a form of disobedience.
As we train our children, we train them through teaching words all day long. We teach thankfulness, and gratefulness and good attitudes all day long. As we teach obedience to our children we are teaching submission to God and higher authority. God has rules and they are to make us happy.
Lorrie describes Discipline Sessions as opportunities to teach God’s rules. She usually directs the child to their room, and when she and the child have calmed down, she will go with her Instructions in Righteousness and Bible in hand. The discipline session doesn’t end until a change of heart is indicated by “sparkly eyes”, as the eyes are the window of our soul.
During questions and answers Lorrie addressed the question of what to do when a child does not respond to a discipline session.
Pam Forster, author of For Instructions in Righteousness, The If-Then Chart, The Blessing Chart and MANY other child training and character development resources was my guest Thursday October 4, 2007. We talked about how she got started writing the charts and the books and addressed the important question of establishing a foundation of using the Bible to train children.
